truck went through on coal???
I just heard from a friend of mine that a truck went through the ice on coal lake ,has anyone else heard anything?

Yes, hopefully just a rumour, but I'm pretty sure it's not the first. Someone went through on Battle and I'm pretty sure on Cold as well, both a couple of weeks ago, or so.

Wow, we were there sun. and on the north side it was 2ft + of ice and 20+ trucks all bunched up. If it is true, hopefully they are alright.

Spent both Saturday and Sunday on the lake and everything seemed fine.. Hopefully it's not true

I know of trucks going through Buck, Battle and Pigeon but havent heard anything about Coal yet.

X 2 And a couple other places , Damn If this is the case Im not risking going To coal this weekend . But the way people drive on the ice Is kind of Questionable .

Don't know about coal, but I was at MacGregor on Saturday and there was open water at the shore line for 6 inches. I walked on, but there was a few that decided to drive on. No one went through thankfully, but in my mind didn't seem worth the risk.

Is no one checking the ice thickness before they drive on the lake. I know that I always drill a few holes before driving on the lake. Don't need my truck to go through. Stay safe out there.

There was a 3/4 ton dropped his back-end in at Cold Lake buddy of mine saw it on the lake about 2 wks ago.

I was at Cold on Dec 26 and there was almost 20" of ice, we drove on no problem. I was there again this past weekend and there was 24" if ice. Depends where they drove on but at the Provincial campground lots of ice.

i heard the same thing about coal... from a friend of friend dont know how reliable.... i do know for a fact that somone sunk a brand new dually into wabanum....talked to a fish cop said he seen the guy doing 30-40k...yah thats right..."he was flying on the ice"..he said the truck just disappeared... dont know what side it was on though...i guess both people in the truck lived...dont know much more...

wow these guys must have really been cruising lots of ice on coal and plenty of trucks no reason they should have went through unless they were being stupid? tight lines to all

I do not wish harm to anyone however Im surprised there are not more issues on frozen lakes. Whats with people driving 30k - 40k? More than a handful were doing it on CVR a few weekends ago and again up on a Saskatchewan Lake this past weekend.
Maybe they are nervous and want to get across. Why would you want to drive like H**L on a snow packed frozen lake and bounce all over the place not knowing whats underneath?
Prior to approaching a lake I roll down my window, ask anyone who is wearing a seatbelt to take them off, turn down the radio and drive like a granny on a Sunday afternoon to our destination on the lake listening for anything that might be of a concern.
Call me crazy.
Anyway if someone has gone in I hope they are ok.

thanks... i drive the same way onto every lake... i usually drill a hole too about 50 feet out if ive never been onto the lake this year... just an extra step to make sure not to sink my jeep.
