Default Did you buy a lawnmower between 1994 & 2012?

Some of you may remember a thread back in 2019, with the same title, regarding a class action lawsuit in connection to inflated horse power labelling on lawn mowers. The thread went sideways and is closed now. I can’t remember, but I think I received around $300.00 back then for my claim. Anyway, now 5 years later, I just received another cheque for $110.00 today!! To be eligible for this residual payment you must have received more than $250.00 on the first go round. So anyone who participated in that class action and received more than $250.00 should be watching their mailbox.

COOL!!!!. I started that last thread but I really don't remember how much I got back. Glad that thread continues to pay off for some of those that took the time to file the minor info needed to claim.

Just picked up the mail. Got a cheque for 110.88 too. Yipeee, and nananana booboo to all the naysayers. I have no problem collecting from companies that knowingly falsely advertise their products. Glad there were so many who couldn't be bothered claiming as this second payout is the result of not near enough claimants to use up the pool of funds.

I got about $50 for one push mower.
It was rated at 4.5 horse.
Wait a minute it’s the one I’m still using. I bought it about 20y ago. I think I paid $300 for it.

I am still using all three of the mowers, two push and one ride on, that I claimed on. What has that got to do with the fact they way over advertised to horsepower on all three. One push mower by almost double. Does it do the job, yes it does. So why advertise it at double its actual horsepower rather than explain that the deck and blade system are far more important than the horsepower. Companies need to quit lying and taking the easy way out. Act responsibly and you won't be open to class action suits.

Exactly! I bought a new Honda mower last summer, before they stopped shipping gas mowers to North America, and my previous mower was a 1992 model, and not once did I ever wonder if my mower made the rated horsepower.

Elk- It is not just North America, Honda is stopping producing gas mowers world wide. I just bought a new gas chainsaw this week for the same reason. Also bought 3 V8 powered vehicles in the last couple of years because those aren't going to be available soon either. All of these will far out last me.

A total end to production may have made me hesitate, as parts might not be available, but I did more research.

Honda UK have now responded to Service Dealer's request for a comment on what this news may mean for our UK dealer readers.

A spokesperson told us, "There is an article circulating that a production facility in North Carolina in the US plans to discontinue production of petrol lawn mowers from September 2023. The decision was driven by stricter environmental regulations and changing customer preferences.

"As reassurance within Europe, Honda Motor Europe produce petrol lawn mowers at our Honda France manufacturing facility and are committed to produce the entire line up."

When pushed whether this statement meant that Honda is categorically not exiting the mower market in Europe and the UK, the spokesperson reiterated, "I can confirm that within Europe, Honda Motor Europe produce petrol lawn mowers at our Honda France manufacturing facility and are committed to produce the entire line up."
