Prophet river actually sells a 44 magnum version of 1873 Winchester. I thought it was a misprint but it's real. All my life I have been told how weak model 73 action is but yet Uberti is making it in new 44 magnum. I get it about new steel but 44 magnum is huge jump from original chamberings.
Anyway apparently lifter block for 45 cowboy special will work with 44 Russian. Only problem here is then i will have 44 magnum stamped on a 44russian.
The 45 cowboy special is actually probably a better way to go. These cowboy action shooting guns are built sort of like race guns or hot rods. Lots of fun in the tweaking them for competition. If you search utube because the way utube is so anti gun but search slicking up your particular type of gun and you will probably get what you are looking for.
Are any of you shooting cowboy action? It doesn't seem to be much going on in Alberta. Not like in the States.
