A few still do, not like back in the day though. More or most ranges now have enclosed loading sheds/rooms or enclosed windproof scale set ups that have enabled the accurate weight measuring of powder charges. Back in the day powder throwing was about the only practical way to load consistiently on a picnic table under a hay shed scenario out in the wind that was so common then.

On the other hand guys who throw charges still do win the odd match in SR benchrest. Long range benchrest and other long range games tend to do better with tight velocity windows that an accurate weight measured load can offer. Not to disparage volume measured charges as they can be pretty darn consistent by a good handle puller, sometimes more consistent than electronic scales that tend to have untimely gremlins raise their ugly heads at the most inopportune times....

Some guys also used to carry hundreds of pre charged glass vials measured at home with varying charges so they could change up their charge levels according to conditions and never bothered to use scales at the range..

Lots of ways to skin a cat.

I’ve been looking at his barrels and will likely order one here right away.

Interestingly I just got a text from last year's Canadian National SBR Champ who happens to be a friend if mine .
He had to bow out of our yearly pheasant hunt because he is down at the U.S. Nats shooting.
He uses one of the Canadian made Inteledroppers although he still has a Harrel as well.

Suprising the number of Alberta SBR shooters who travel to the big matches in the US and Internationally, do very well and are mostly unrecognized.
