Good afternoon folks. What would be a good cheap and easy hearth for under my wood stove in my cabin? Thanks

Depending on what you mean by "cheap".

Canadian tire has stove boards for about $160.

Depends on what your cabin is like. Angle iron screwed to the floor to hold a layer of bricks or sand.

That's what I did, layer of 1/2 durock cement board, then put tile down on top of it. Probably cost 200$ for the whole area under my woodstove in my living room. Rest of the floor is rough sawn wood.

This time of year a guy can get 12x12 pavers for 6 or 7 bucks a piece, will last longer than the cement board, especially if drying boots or outdoor gear by the stove. A bag or two of ready mix and grout and river rock lasts years as well. The mudboard works well for ensuring non combustable behind the stove if you dont have the desired space for stove or pipe.
I have a large slab of amethyst under one of my line camp stoves, I cut the slab from one of my claims. Took two men and a hairy azz boy to haul it in the shack, but it looks good and will last a lifetime.

Left over metal roof panels mounted on 2x2 spacers along with large metal floor plate/sand work well in all our cabins. PS Even with my older over 80 trapping partner who likes to load stove to red hot.

One stove I have I used a old wagon wheel outsid steel ring an I grouted in bricks like spokes to the wheel I will try an take a pic
