Travers spillway access
Can't upload the picture, but was sent a picture of the spillway access road (McGregor to Travers spillway) being gated, much like the gate that went up across the road to access the southern McGregor dam many years ago.
I imagine the spillway access being closed will lead to some unhappy people in both summer and winter.

Hopefully will get rid of the bums that leave their trailers there all summer long

There was people dumping sewage from their trailers into the lake, along with a crap load of garbage being left behind.

Yes, the road that parallels the canal and heads to the spillway. That road is now gated.

ABOUT TIME
It has become nothing but a bunch of people camping for free and as posted dumping their holding tanks in the lake and all kinds of other trash left for the wind to bow some place.

as usual everyone is being punished for the acts of a few. Why not punish the people involved involved instead of punishing everyone? There are rules and regulations but rather than enforcement the govt just likes to ban everything.

There are three signs. The only one I can make out from the picture is "Service Road. Authorized vehicles only."
I can't read the other two in the picture, but they are posted on the gate posts.

There is going to be no access to reservoirs real soon. The road across the dam to the inlet at Jensen, the road to the inlet on the west end of Ridge the road that leads down to the power station at Chin. I used to use them all and they all have gates on them. I am not opposed to getting out and walking, but not going to go to far with all the ice fishing gear. This is just another area lost now.

You can haul a lot of stuff on a calf sled.

I’m surprised BRID allowed it for that long. Not like it was crown land…
Pretty much all of the EID land specifically says no camping allowed.

Yeah I always wondered about the random camping thing, but shutting down access is taking it a little too far. There is already very limited access to most of our reservoirs unless you are in a boat.

I don't think That land is BRID. Unless something has changed very recently, that area is part of the Travers Provincial Recreation Area, same as the Campground on the east side of the reservoir.. My understanding is that is where the PRA Campground was going to be, but they moved it for some reason.

I guess I just assumed they owned it as the old spillway was in that area as well. I guess the land could be owned by them but the roads are owned by BRID? Which essentially means they can shut down access at any time.

I agree with you totally about the gates especially here at Jensen ...quite a.number of local older anglers that are cut out of the equation now with the gates ..

If you guys don't start talking face to face with your MLAs and County councillors this will keep happening. Get you fish and game clubs, fishing clubs etc to start having meetings and putting pressure on the. If you don't make a big deal about it then no one else will. I have had a lot of success talking to my MP, MLA and councillor, mayor about various issues. Very often it was the first they even heard there was an issue or concern. Didnt always change the outcome but it did often enough that I am still doing it.
