The attitude surrounding crime that "The MD" or the "Authorities" are not doing enough...is the reason the crime rates in smaller Alberta communities is ramped! All the low life's don't give a crap about the "Authorities" there is absolutely no deterrent the way our legal system is currently set up. These people..if you can call them that...actually feel entitled to take what every they want...and they risk...which is very low...is well worth the reward. The only real deterrent is the public. When the public eventually have had enough and make a stand, then crime will slack off. This whole passive attitude of "Don't get involved and call the police" is the back bone of the rural Alberta crime issues. We all know the rules in bear country...not a lot of difference...don't leave stuff laying around, keep your property packed away securely, and stay vigilante. If one does come around make it very know you are NOT a target and that you will fight back and not go easily. Eventually they will get the message that it's not worth it.

Well today we launched at the provincial park, a vehicle caught our attention, going down to the launch and back to the parking lot just making rounds so I called the RCMP and gave them the details as to what was observed.
20 minutes later had a officer call back wanting more details, 30 minutes later got a call as he had engaged the said vehicle and occupants not caught doing anything wrong but as we talked they gave him ohhh we are waiting for someone etc but we new that there was more to the story. Like I mentioned to the RCMP officer their simple presence and engagement moved the riff raff off for now. I told him that us citizens working with law enforcement in a positive immediate call in and report what we see can and will keep these scum at bay.
We know they are going to lie straight up but they text their scum buddies as to the cops being around and they shut down or move on.
Lived in this area for 21 years and every time I called something in from finding stolen trucks etc as soon as the officer(s) showed up the punks moved on.
Sad but we gotta stay on top of this crap as the law enforcement is spread thin and every little bit helps.
Ohhh and we caught lakers, pike and came back to all our stuff in order!!!!
Thanks to the quick response of the RCMP on the call in.

Awesome! Caught fish and drove off scumbags! Great day man!! That's what I mean...get involved...let em know we are watching and not gonna put up with this crap. Doesn't take a lot of effort by someone...just some effort by everyone. Last stats on the RCMP show a big decline in this type of activity since last year...so the pressure is on. The Lake Land area has gotten a lot of attention in the past few years in this regard, so things are moving in the right direction. Keep your eyes open, report all unusual activity, we all have cameras, record specious activity, and just let em know people are watching and not putting up with this. Cold Lake is an amazingly beautiful area and full of diverse outdoor recreational opportunities. The PP is one of the best in the province. We the public own these resources, so let's take ownership. We all see the pics 58th posts regularly...seriously...lol...can't let the baddies take that way from us!

Yesterday was pontoon time so we had a go at lakers and pike.
Nothing huge but lots of fun. We fished some places we never had before just to go explore as the weather was awesome so why not!

Bait balls and lakers in and around the areas made for easy picking.

Time to get a work out!

Find the cruising bait balls stacked up, find the lakers lurking then just dial in what gets them to bite.
Takes a bit of work sometimes but once’s dialed in it gets crazy real quick.
There is so much structure on that lake way out in the middle of no where just gotta go pay attention to your fish finders.
This also makes for great ice fishing opportunities once hard water season rolls around marking these hot spots.

Just hammered the lakers today 5 keepers easy lots over over 75 cm
So happy they changed the regs this year . Going to be a lot of big fish in the lake to to catch and release in the future . Thank you fish biologist for the change.
We ended the day with 55 lakers on the counter.

Went out again today just for a short 4 hours as it got to windy but managed to land 25 lakers. Lucked out on the second fish as it was a keeper

Another great on cold lake.
English bay boat launch really shallow
Short 4 hr day because of the wind
Did land 26 lakers got two keeps on the last two fish then went in

Going to be a great weekend coming up for those that are coming fishing
Just need wind to die down lol
Today we broke the boats record for landed lakers while trolling off of 2 rods.
Hit 80 lakers on a day trip. 4 nice keeps and threw back many keepers

FANTASTIC! Looks like I may finally get the boat in the water this Thursday FIANALLY after a week of moving, me and My Beautiiful Bride will set sail....or Verado in this case...and head out on our first trip as Cold Lake residents! Can't wait to get doing what we pulled up roots in St. Albert to get here to do!

Awesome seeing you out on the lake, such a beauty day and yup sharing intel on hot areas is always a bonus too.

Yesterday my phone lite up with Intel on the bite but those areas where out of reach for the kayaks but we managed to catch a few

Then this fella shows up with a huge centre console boat and scared all the fish away

We fished Saturday and Sunday for our last Cold Lake summer trip of the year. Saturday was steady but the wind sucked lol. Sunday morning was insanity. Doubles almost every drop for about 3-4 hours. Fish were absolutely stacked in 35-55 feet of water. The afternoon slowed up to acceptable levels which was still lots of fish. COs we're at the PP launch Sunday afternoon checking everyone.

Cold seems to be great for good numbers of medium size fish.
Are there ever any big ones caught? 15lbs plus?

My best is 38 inches and I figure 15 lbs ish

A couple 36 ers 10-12lbs

And the way the fishery is going hopefully see a lot more in the future.

Well....FAIL...was only out for a couple hours and was more interested in scoping out some beaches on the north end...lol...next time!
