Default Livingstone PLUZ Gnomefest Rave

I was camped out at the Livingstone this past week all night you could hear the bass of some kind of electronic music quietly off in the distance. Turns out it was a rave called Gnomefest...5.5 kilometers away. Running from sundown to 6am every night Thursday-Sunday. I can't imagine how much power it would take to put out that much noise for that long. Anyway was anyone else out there or have any intel? I've been fascinated by this since I found out the music was audible from that distance.

There was a guy on Facebook complaining about it. He was in that campground with small children that could not sleep all night long. He called the police and they said “oh they’re just having a rave, they do it every year “.

His biggest complaint was that if it’s every year that campground should make note of it.

Oh, it can travel a long way, given topography and atmosphere.

There was a farm several miles away from where we had a camp. From time to time they would host live bands, which was kind of cool, when you think about it. At any rate, there was a lake between them and us, and it acted like a sort of sound cannon which made us feel like we had a front row seat.

I have other examples, but yeah, it's interesting how sound carries in certain conditions!

Last weekend was Friendzy Fest north of Evansburg. What was all EDM music. I went for a drive and could hear it no problem from 4 miles away.

No it's public land on the PLUZ (actually the spot I was hoping to camp). It wasn't disruptive as far away as I was, honestly in retrospect I should have tried fishing closer to it early in the day maybe it would have been less busy than the parade of anglers I found downstream.

Anyway I don't think they would need permits but I'm not sure, kind of raises some interesting questions about what would potentially be allowed without some kind of permit.
