Has anyone put ferruls into a wooden shaft so the points can be changed like an aluminum or carbon arrow can be?
I was thinking of drilling the shaft and inserting a ferrul using epoxy to retain integral strength.

They used to make an outsert that glued on the shaft to except screw in tips. haven't seen them or looked for them in years. Bohning I think.
I still have some of those on some old cedar arrows. They were a bit clunky. Now I just use purpose specific arrows. Broadheads on some and blunts on others. For broadheads with my wood longbow I am using bodkin 3 blade glue ones.
I tried, on a very low poundage bow to switch between target and sgh tips. It doesn’t retain strength, no matter what you do to it (glue, wrap, etc) it’ll always split. That’s why you don’t see it anywhere.

These shafts might be 5/16" diameter. The inserts might leave enough wood all around so combined with the epoxy the strength might remain. I'll give the dimensions and pics when I get down to them again.

That is a logical approach. If the insert/outset ideas don't stack up I will put it that way.

OK, I see you have tried my idea already. What diameter of shaft did you use? It sounds like maybe the outset might be the way to go, and then decide whether they become too bulky.

Ethics Archery has an insert/outsert system. They are out of the US, available online it would appear. 3 Rivers Archery carries the stuff too I think. Not sure if they are for wood or not?
I might try the GGP ones on ammyzone.

The Ethics Archery brand are $32 USD for 3 or 4 arrows. They are expensive but you get what you pay for.
