Default Victor foothold trap info...Please

Growing up trapping gophers (Richardson Ground Squirrels) I used the Victor #1 foothold long spring trap and they worked but not so humane on a quick kill.

My grandfather had a Victor #1 foothold "stopless" that was fast and ensured little to no suffering to a gopher.
Are these traps still being sold or is it now a vintage/thing of the past?

Thanks for your time.

King;
I appreciated your note and direction.
I have reached out to an Alberta distributor (Canadian Coyote Company) and waiting for their call.

Thanks again for your time....

Default Oneida Victor #1 long spring stop loss traps.

Halfords in Edmonton has them, you can just buy them on line.

Just to wrap this thread up.

Marty at the Canadian Coyote Company returned my call and he schooled me.

The Victor #1 long spring foothold "stop less" is still being produced.
However for my application, it is not for me.

The "stop less" feature is designed to keep the jaws closed once an animal is caught not as a secondary dispatching mechanism, as I initially thought.

Marty suggested a couple of other alternatives with one being the Wolf Creek Weasel trap....It is a rat trap looking trap on steroids; very powerful.

It is used to secure a weasel, I am sure a common gopher is not as weasel resilient and it will work. Add a simple securing modification to ensure it is not lost or carried away.

As well, Marty had some successful baiting ideas.

Thanks again Marty and others in the thread, who chimed in.

Actually i do believe that Victor has stopped making traps. If you like certain models of Victor traps, and you want to buy more, now is the time.
