BC Road Trip stop idea suggestions?

Lussier hot springs between Cranbrook & Fairmont is a neat stop, it’s how a hot spring should be, just some rocks placed to create a few different temperature pools where the spring discharges into the river. Pretty sure I saw some camping signage & campers nearby but that wasn’t on our itinerary so we didn’t stop aside from visiting the hot springs.

Seems the place might have family daytime & lord knows what @ nighttime, I’m picturing free-spirited nudists & hippies frolicking around under the moonlight

Hi All, still developing our Itinerary, but have made some adjustments based on some friends we will be staying with and some other factors. A revised trip route is slightly modified here:

At this point we will be staying in Lumby and Langly at friends places, but are looking for recommendations (either camping spots or pet friendly accommodations) in:

- Pemberton area

- Nakusp area

- Revelstoke area

If anyone has any pointers in those areas that would be most certainly appreciated!

Nakusp has it's own nice little simple and basic campsite right in town. We've stayed there with our dog so we could eat and drink in town without any driving required. https://www.nakuspcampground.ca/
About a half hour out of Pemberon is a nice campground on Birkenhead lake. The lake is beautiful, decent fishing, good mountain biking.

Not a bad idea to have a few alternate route plans in case of wood smoke which has been a regular summer event for the last several years in BC and it has already begun .

Not far from the needles ferry there is a place called Steven’s creek rec site on whatshan lake. No cost. And won’t disappoint

Whistler is an impressive place, summer and winter.
If you're in no rush take 99 north from Whistler to Pemberton, Lillooet, Marble Canyon Provincial Park.
Just make sure your brakes are in good shape!

I think one of our stops is going to be between Pemberton and Lillooet, then on to Lumby the next day.

Looks like there are a few BC hydro sites and private campgrounds. Not much on the provincial parks reservation site.

Howdy - just bumping this thread because I can.

I think we have some spots found in the first part of the trip but definitely looking for some places between Lumby and Revelstoke taking the south path.

I've had some really neat PM's which I appreciate.

I'll share any info for those taking a similar trip down the road.

Yes we're just winging it and it's driving me nuts, but I can't get my travelling buddies to commit to anything, so we'll just play this section by ear!

After lumby, hit Steven’s creek rec site on whatshan Then head to the ferry that barely gets used (arrow park). But you can stay on the west side too. Catherine lake is a very nice little spot that you would very likely have to yourself, then up to revy. Or cross over and spend a night at halfway River hot springs( but would need to book). Halfway is better than lussier in my opinion. The roads all are good through the summer. West of arrow are rough but easily doable in most vehicles. Trout lake area would be a great detour as well

One more thing, is if you could do new Denver to kaslo, it’s absolutely phenomenal. Then gray creek pass to Kimberley, which is easily passable in most vehicles not hauling a trailer.then head to lussier hot springs, cross over to horseshoe rapids rec site( free) That route is basically the route I’ve done the last 3 years and I’ll likely keep doing the same route. I’ve got some pins for some great great camp spots along the way as well I could send you.

Take a look at Nakusp hot Springs campground. It's almost exactly halfway between Faquier and Shelter bay ferry. Nice camps spots, cabins if you'd prefer, and the hotsprings are right in the campground. We stayed there last week and it's a great spot. Theres a nice 8km trail that will take you right into Nakusp.

I would recommend flying across British Columbia
Basically everything expensive .
I used to hate trucking in that province. Felt like going into Soviet Union.
I see great deals on trucks and tractors in British Columbia but no way I'm going there. To risky trying to drive em or trailer them back to Alberta. I've also looked into hiring others to go there and truck stuff back and they either won't go there or want tons of money to go just because of all the crazy laws and regulations in that province .
I don't know about now but years ago you had police giving every truck a ticket that went about 3 km over limit.
I've even heard and I don't know if true but they now even have a special tourist tax they charge you on hotel rooms and stuff.

Yep, I went from federal back to provincial running rights, will stay in AB and feed this province before giving little Russia any of my hard earned money!!

Skip Halcyon, go to Halfway Hot Springs just south of Halcyon.

Skip the Hut in Nakusp, it looks good - but the food has seen better days.

Do stop at Burton City Cider, in Burton. Even if just for a bite to eat, and to pick up some cold ones for the evening back in camp.

Fergie's Café in Squamish is also a good stop.
