Thanks for sharing. My first wolf is still one of my best hunting memories. It can happen in different ways, but dedication is always needed, and then add a bunch of patients. We need more wolf hunters out there, boys and girls!!!!

I never thought of using patients as bait. Which kind are best?
Sorry, just couldn't resist.

Pile of work but many good memories are. Very well done!

Very well done ,good memories never come easy on a wolf hunt. My favor thing to hunt and almost the same way you guys did it. Bait or fine a very large kill and set up.
Love the pics specially the teeth on a very healthy male . Many times one or two are busted and the length of them by your finger are for throat or groin attaches sinking in to tear things up.
Great pics good story and I'm very happy you pushed forward to accomplish what you were after.
I save the pee like on the snow or where ever and freeze it for other places to hunt ,other packs go crazy when another wolf comes around specially a male ,just put the pee on there's.
Cheers

Great tip!
Funny you should mention that, I was looking at the pee stain in the picture and thought, "I wonder if that's worth collecting?"
One application I was thinking of would be to keep varmints out of my yard...

Great job, I have never specifically hunted wolves, but I shot two black ones on an elk hunt, and a gray one on a grizzly hunt.

Great story. Imagine what those teeth have bit into. The blind looks great and must have helped with scent control.

Although I was fortunate enough to have the wind in my favor, no doubt it helped contain my scent.

awseome
Great story & photos. I remember the first time I saw wolves. Hunting caribou in AK 1991. Watching 3 copper color wolves, hunting a drainage, early in the AM. I was so awestruck,,, I could have taken one then, but just watched.
I have booked a wolf hunt in zone 510, late Nov. Does anyone have, good/bad things to say about that unit ?

Depends on what the gov does between now and then. I got word the gov is starting to "manage" wolves with a helicopter.

How does one apply for a job in this type of wolf management? I believe I may be a good candidate for this position.
