Exclamation Suffield Elk Hunt

I am working on a presentation about the Suffield Elk Hunt. I need input on current experiences, the hunt itself, elk populations, in general anything about this elk hunt. Please help and leave any information you have.

Maybe if you introduced yourself first.

Who and what is the presentation for?

Firstly its more a cull than a hunt. Plenty of Elk killed every year.I have heard about a few bad experiences and some good ones.Ethics are lacking sometimes.

Ive been there 3 times and have always had a good experience. Always have got a chance on elk, 2 times we harvested 2 animals and another we shot one but she got away.

Havent seen any bad behavior either, everyone seems to work together to put them on the herds.

I will be going back, likely this next season.

Default Auffoeld elk hunt

Correct me if I’m wrong but have they not rolled back tags big time on the suffield hunts? I was there in 2015, I believe, and there was a lot more than 20 tag holders there at that time, which is the number I’m seeing for the first antlered hunt last year ( via AlbertaRELM)!

This info you seek?.... what are your intentions with it ? You should disclose your intent. Getting no info from me untill we know what your up to with this info you seek.

This blows my mind !.

In terms of historical information and harvest statistics I would suggest contacting Joel Nicholson, the senior wildlife biologist in Medicine Hat.

Lots of members here will chime in, however I would strongly suggest searching old threads on the forum as there is a wealth of information there.

^ Patience is a virtue, lol.

OP, as walking buffalo and Somehunter said, you’d have better luck if you precede your questions/requests with who what and why. Kindda weird and I doubt you will have much success finding what you are looking for otherwise. There are lots of people here who would be willing to help if you proceed “properly”.

I am a conservation enforcement student at Lethbridge College, and I am trying to build a presentation for my fellow classmates about the Suffield Elk Hunt.

Stop it.
It appears you don't understand what "cull" means.

This is a cull that uses hunting as the action to achieve the desired management goals.

It is both a hunt and a cull.

Agreed, sorry if I offended. You explained it clearly.
