Default Ruger American magazine

I have a 3 years old Ruger American with a rotary mag. The mag started to malfunction lately, it jams and won’t allow the round to advance to the top.
Is there another option available as for the mag? Or any fixing tips?
Thanks in advance guys!

I give mine a blast of dry silicone spray once a year. So far it’s worked great.

Are you able to take it apart and clean/lubricate it? I know I’ve seen the 10/22 rotary mags fail because they got dirty. Always good practice to clean your mags when you clean your rifle or pistol!

I had the exact same problem after about 150 rounds . I contacted Ruger and they sent out a new magazine . they are prone to failure , Also there is the possibility you can do an Aics mag conversion .

I am not sure, I was able to take a very good look inside of it and didn’t see any dirt at all. I might follow the lubrication advice to see if that will help. It looks to me thou that the plastic body of the mag somehow expanded and the round gets stuck between the mag follower that pushes the round up and the wall…

I’ve had many a coworkers duty pistol suffer a malfunction because of dust in the magazine. Doesn’t look like much but somehow someway it causes problems. A simple wipe down of the spring, followed, base plate and body seems to prevent that from happening. I always clean my mags after every ranger day/qualification. For the ones that remain loaded ready to go I empty them, wipe the brass down and do the same cleaning to the mags couple times a year. Cheap insurance with those ar10 mags and spare p320 mags rattling around in the door pockets collecting dust all year.

What caliber do you have ? link for Aics mag conversion . Apparently you can buy the adapter from Ruger for $19 (maybe snapshots?) . I'm going to do this upgrade on my American predator in 6.5 in the near future .
