Default Good butcher around Okotoks???

Hey everyone. If I ever find something to shoot, where is a good place to take the animal for butchering?

I use the Longview Jerky Shop, but I hunt down there so it's on the way home. No expert but I think they do a good job. There are no shops in Okotoks that do it that I'm aware of.

I've used long view jerky as well. They have a pulley setup so you can skin the animal in place if you like (just bring it gutted). Careful though... all the outfitters bring their guys in there to 'donate' the meat. These guys seem to get some sort of preferential treatment as we were put to the back of the line when they showed up last year. Also took us over 2 months to get our meat (if it was even ours). I have since used Rocky's in Calgary and love it. Your meat is ready to go in days.

I believe there is also Back Country Butcher in Cowley. Never used them myself but have read good things. They are only open for November this year from looking at their website.

Rick is legit -- he is Rick Paolini of the former Paolini's Butcher Shop in Calgary. Decades of experience with wild game.
