Smile When does the velvet come off on Whitetails?

New hunter here

Just curious when the velvet starts getting rubbed off on the whitetails near Central Alberta?

Also, if I am in the bowzone I am eligible for a 2 tag antlerless license, but if I spud a buck between Sept 1 to Nov 1st, is that considered my General tag buck? Because the regs say antlerless and antlered is from Sept 1 to Nov 30th. Any insight is appreciated.

Most are free of velvet by mid September at the latest with majority after the first week of September

I don’t know the bow zone regs because I don’t hunt there but your answer should be in the regs

Antlered will be your general tag, no scenario where the antlerless tags can be used on an antlered. Check the regs of course

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I just want to make sure I have the proper tags in hand in case a cranker happens to walk by my stand!
