Beaver Lake

I never been to Beaver Lake by Lac la biche before, it am going there next week for a family get together. I’m going to fish it but don’t know anything about the lake. An anyone give me a few tips? Much appreciated, thank you.

I've caught plenty pike there in summer just casting spoons from the shoreline at the provincial campsite. So I don't think you will struggle to find pike on a boat if you look for the right zones and weedbeds.

I've seen big whitefish wash up there during an algae bloom but not sure if they're catchable. Can't speak to the walleyes, but I know they're in there.

Having a depth map at the very least is a must, preferably on the sonar. Tore a prop up real well way back in the day. But also have had multiple 100 fish days. Haven’t been up there much in the last few years but there’s always been lots of smaller pike with some bigger ones and some walleye mixed in

The lake isn’t your typical Alberta basin type lake. Lots of structure. Humps, rocks, sunken islands, drops, points and islands. Very fun lake to fish.
Mind you I haven’t fished it in 30 years but I love the structure.
Was a great walleye lake.

Thanks for the info gentleman. Those lake with rocks just under the surface scare me. I already lost a prop on Lac la biche lake last fall.

Is that location south of the narrows?

There are a few really good structures to the north west of the Spruce Point campground where there are significant drops, and going into the bay which the Beaver River flows from, but that rock pile south of the narrows is a big one.

I have never fished in the area of the Provincial Campground, and I understand that there are a few rock piles in that direction as well.

It would be a good public service if someone had some floats to mark some of these prop crushing spots.

A few years ago and over 1 summer, I did a bunch of boat claims from Beaver Lake that lost their lower legs to rock ledges in places they would have never thought they would be.
