Snow Geese This Early

It’s 2:45am on September 6 and I just saw a flock of 100 snow geese fly over Saskatoon. Thought I heard a couple flocks earlier in the night. It’s exceptionally early for migrators.

I have seen snows around for the September 1 opener central Alberta. Rare but it happens main push will be a while yet. Often non breeding flocks although I have seen juvies on the first too. Waiting on the specks seems like everyone an hour west, south and east has specks already but just a few around here.

Yup I see snows every year on the first week. Never in big numbers but always is a few. Killed 3 specks yesterday.

My partner was ou scouting this morning. Said the birds we were hunting Saturday were on their way to Calgary. Will be there on the 8th!

Ive heard specks in the air at night but havent seen em on the ground yet. Had a mixed flock with 1/2 dozen snows come into take a look at the spread the other day.
