Canoe stabilizers/outriggers

Does anyone use outriggers on their canoe?

I am thinking about putting a set on mine.

Are they worth it? Or are they more trouble than they prevent.

I made one out of plastic pipe for using with a small outboard on my canoes, in the end I didnt really end up using the outboard or the outrigger very much.
