Default .45 LC and deer hunting

Has anyone ever taken a deer with a 45 long colt round?

Not personally . A buddy did.
And with hand loads it’s a decent options have a Rossi 92 in 357 and I’ll be adding either a 45 or 44. The 454 casull is even better and on my wish list.

Just got back from shooting my 454 casull, shot a box of 45 colt out of it. After seeing what happened to some of the 8-10” poplars behind my plywood. I’d say stay within your limits and you’ll have no problem dropping a deer. I think this rifle will be my number 1 bush rifle for the next 2 or 18 seasons. Good luck!

I owned a Win Legacy in 45 Colt 4-5 years back.
Cast loads were the only loads I could buy, @ 800 FPS, you could see them fly as we shot at targets, ha.
Loaded my own 225 gr jacketed Berry’s at aprx 1400 FPS, those were a better load for deer.
Sold the whole kit to an AO member soon after.
