Tikka Rings
Hey guys. The scope i have on my Tikka is a Leupold 4.5-14x40 with a 30MM tube. I'm using Talley lows currently but there is still a .25" gap between barrel and objective bell. I'd like to find rings to mount lower. Any advice?

Is your eye alignment out? I’m sure Talley must make an extra low. I’m running Talley 1” lows on my T3 and find they are just right, I do notice my scope gap a bit, but I’m not hunting for the sweet spot when I shoulder it.

Get the measurements that are provided with your current rings. That's the starting point. Compare them to other manufacturer specs to see what will lower them as required. Every manufacturer has different specs for rings. Not all lows are the same.
I had to go with higher rings than I normally would after putting a KRG Bravo on my Tikka T1x. The comb of the stock at lowest setting was not correct for me. I used the measurements from the rings that I had then went with what would work to get the scope up higher. Ended with with taller rings than I thought would be needed. Glad I spent the time fooling around to get it right instead of purchasing rings twice.

Buy the extra low if you want to mount the scope lower.

When had a 1" tube scope it sat lower then I have now and was a better fit. However, I have adjusted and can get a clear sight picture right away with current setup. But I want to see if there are lower options with 30mm rings.

I looked at cabelas and low was the lowest option available. It doesn't list extra low on cabelas website either. Where have you seen Talley in extra low 30mm?

Prophet river carries most of the tally lightweight line.

Or they can probably get it for you. I've always used extra low on my Tikka's because the bases are still thicker than most. I can't remember who it was, but there was a member on here that machined the bases to lower them and you had a lip on both sides.

Go to their website and have a look. If your chasing black lightweights here’s the SKU your looking for.
It appears the extra low is 0.100” lower then “low”
