Funny how there’s two posts with regards to pork prices right now... one says pork prices are going to go through the roof due to a domestic shortage as more pork is sent to china...
The other post talks about the Chinese closing their border to Canadian pork, and how that will lead to a domestic glut and lower prices here at home.

Which will it be?

Which will it be? Both.
They’ve got to drive the market down as far as it can go before they step in and secure cheap pork for years to come. It’s what China does.

Spot on. Do you remember all those lovely contracts to supply coal to China. Tumbler Ridge was built on them. Chinese completely screwed us over, backed out of the contracts and absolutely nothing was done about it. Look at Tumbler now and the thousands of people that lost their butts on that and many other deals with China. They have a very long history of dealing in bad faith. No matter how big their market is, anyone who chooses to ignore the well documented history is bound to repeat the mistakes already made.
