Default Training a new hunting pup

Well the stars have aligned and have convinced my better half that it is time for a dog. Since hunting is my passion and I drop anything to follow that passion, a upland dog has been purchased. I know it will be a long road and probably a bumpy one but if anyone has any advice on training, myself and my new GSP would greatly appreciate any help.

Join a NAVHDA chapter, you will get help from experienced trainers, and they have access to birds, and a training field.

Get a hold if the Calgary pointing dog club or the GSP vlub also. Attend some tests or trials.

Our NAVHDA chapter trains by Delburne, and we have members in the Edmonton area.

I will also encourage joining a NAVHDA chapter. I was new to versatile dogs 4 years ago, and some of the members of Prairie Vista NAVHDA have been invaluable in helping me to develop him into a great little hunting dog.

Listen to the Navhda advice. Good people who will help you with training. Alacringa's and Elkhunter's dogs are wonderful hunting partners and personalities. I have watched them both and they bring a great big smile to my face!
