Default Migratory Bird Possession Limit

Hey, quick question. I am new to Waterfowl hunting and trying to understand the regulations.

According to the Alberta Hunting Regulations it says the daily limit for canada/white-fronted geese is 8 and the possession limit is 24.

Does this mean either
i) Every day I am allowed to shoot up to 8 until I reach 24 in my possession (including the ones in my freezer).
or
ii) My hunting group is allowed 24 birds per hunt, so if we have more than 3 hunters our daily limit reduces.

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Does not matter if your group is 2 or 8. The daily limit per hunter is 8 geese of which only 5 can be white fronted (spec's) Same with ducks 8 again only 5 can be pintail.

If the F&G comes up to you and you are in the field with more than the daily limit big trouble. Possession is mostly consider what you have at your residence but is open for many a discussion.

F & W have told me that once processed, ie jerky, your possession limit is reset. Could be abused, guess it's just an honor system.

Default Hunting limit

Is there a limit for the group?

If I hunt in a group of five including myself are we each allowed 8 or as a group is our possession limit 24?

The possession limit is also per hunter.

The regs show only 4 pintail per day and 12 in possession

Your limit is YOUR OWN, there is no such thing as “group limit” you cannot share limits as a group...if you shoot 8 geese, you are done. You can’t help others in your group fill their limits.

You are allow 8 per day, and 24 in your possession...so your possession limit is 3X your daily...it would take you 3 days to fill a possession limit.
