Default High Pressure Cold Front - The Struggle is Real

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYLxbv-KSgM

This last year my borther came up from Montana while we were in Alberta. We had hopes of great ice fishing, but Mother Nature had different plans. The somewhat warm weather the week prior turned to frigid cold with Daytime temps from -25 to -30 degrees C. While I often have good luck in cold temps, this time combined with the high pressure system and sliver moon phase just seemed to put the fish into hiding. This didn't stop us from working as hard as we could to put fish on the ice. With several missed fish and one decent pike lost we were somewhat disappointed. Then the sun started to set and a few small walleye came in to save the day. The Struggle is Real but a day on the ice is better than any day at work.

This was Pinehurst.

Those glo in the dark slender spoons are killer....best tackle investment I ever made...just wish they held their glo a bit longer

We were there this past Saturday for the late afternoon bite, it was molasses slow. Few small walleye and a pike.

Yeah this was back the second week of January when we were doing all the fishing out in AB. It was slow that week all over. Not the epic adventure we had imagined. Too cold to even video, the camera wouldn't stay on.

Wow. I was expecting dead bodies and wailing women. lol. Your right about that brutal cold spell we had this season. It is tough when the fish you catch is almost smaller then the hook your using. At least you put a few on the ice, and that perch harvest that you posted should make up for a few slow days.

yeah we had three good days of perch fishing and acutally one good day of pike fishing with a 38" being caught and released all on camera. So I'll keep working on videos and get that stuff up eventually.
