Default Camp Wainwright archery draw

I'm thinking of doing camp wainwright deer draw this year .i have a few questions . Where about's is the bow zone on the base ? Has anyone have any storeys to share ? They say no atv's but they also say if you get stuck your on your own , so you can bring a 4x4 truck on base ? What's the rules with vehicles ? How does your priority work for this draw ?

I see now that you need some priority to get your bow draw there. But still looking for some input on the other questions

Hunted the base many many times...you can hunt any season and anywhere there with a bow if drawn general....however there are a few walk in only Bow zones where rifle has never been open...lots of trails and roads but also hilly near river and one can get stuck...make friends with a hunter there that has a big winch...lol

the bow zones are good and not used much at all...but as mentioned since the culling started it is slow...

Will likely get drawn this year for the Primitive weapons season. Have toyed with the idea of taking my bow when I have been drawn before, but never have. From what I gather, deer numbers are pretty low even in the bow only areas. Or, is it worthwhile to try with the bow only in those bow only spots?

Always worth taken the bow anywhere...still some huge honkin deer on the base ...mostly mules now...but every year a hummer Whitetail comes in...

One of or the biggest moose to date was taken with a bow...

The massive CWD cull took place very close to the base in 2005...Helicopter's, snipers/sharp shooters with AR15's, the works...surrounding the base in the east WMU's we were given up to 9 mule tags on general...
Then the base recorded a couple case's of CWD so they gave out three tags on all base hunts plus all military and civilian workers on base were issued "Landowners" tags with three tags also...it brought the deer populations down...

I took part in the "landowner" program for several years... But there were always good bucks both whitetail and mule and still is...the program worked with no more cases lately with CWD and deer are back on the rise surrounding and on base...

Will culls ever solve CWD ...personally I say nope...I think its here to stay or was always here

There are cases every year around the base with CWD....to say no more cases is not correct.

Ask Shedcrazy, it's being found on base as well. Actually spreading a bit more than before is my understanding.

8 detected on base last year, 10 the year before. The two highest years since they started looking.

Wow that's crazy...must be an up to date survey since the new year...
know shedcrazy well ..just haven't keep as informed as I should be...

As I stated its here to stay and I don't think any amount of culling will slow it down completely...
