Default Deer recovery buried by cougar

So an old timer shot a white tail just before dark last night so he waited till morning to go review cuz he could not find blood. Told me so I wanted to help him recover after bout 100 yards I start to find decent blood bout 80 yards past that I jumped what at first I thought was the deer but nope was a cougar burying the deer with grass and leaves cougar left but not fast. So uncovered the deer it was destroyed and the back end old boy get up to it was really bummed out we headed back to get the truck get back to the deer it was only half hour and deer was already buried again. In the end he tagged it we drug it out he was able to salvage backs traps not much else was any good sad day but very exciting all in same time 30 years of hunting never came across that before.
