Guess you don't have union representation. I work 12 hrs I get paid for 12 hrs.
Oh yea I forgot, unions are bad. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

When we installed our new server they added a web filter for certain sites. We are a three branch service company, the first morning it was activated at 8, by 10 there was 87 attempts to access Facebook! You would of thought we were cutting their wages by 50% the way some of them complained, I cannot access AO on my work computer either, when I want to out comes my smart phone. I don't even want to know corporately what amount of time gets ****ed away by people surfing the web but as usual the bad apples wreck it for everyone else. I didn't let it ruin my day though, I am salary and am paid to do a job whether it takes me 8, 16 or 4 hours to complete it. Not sure what your scenario is but working that many hours out of the kindness of your heart ain't smart

What ever happened to going to to work, to actually do some work, like a person is paid to do? The system that was put there to do some work on, was paid for by the owner(s). It isn't there for the employee(s) to play on or with. It is amazing to me how many people can't go a couple of hrs without talking to their "friends" on the phone, the cellphone which they are not supposed to have at their desk or workstation.
And then a business call comes in and they are too "busy" to answer it.
Bunch of entitled self centred twits, that in many cases don't do what they were hired for. Don't know how we ever got along without them, the world probably would stop and society would most likely collapse, if we took them away now. For about a minute, then someone would have to learn how to work.

That would set up an HTTP tunnel to Ultrasurf's proxy servers, bypassing any local DNS request from your browser. Those would then reach out to blocked sites by doing DNS translations on your behalf and sending back encrypted data.

Haven't used that [yet], & I don't know if their servers are returning encrypted whole web pages, files & streams or just DNS translations. But I'd guess you could still be flagged by a netadmin if they sniffed heavy weird encrypted traffic consisting of lots of volume transmissions through a local browser port without any DNS requests? Especially through a non-authorized non-corporate VPN on a transport link to a known block of Ultrasurf ip addresses?

I'd just complain to the sysadmin to remove local blockages to certain DNS site names, so that I could get product specs or service manuals or vendor addresses or whatever was needed to do my work.

Yep, that's right.

Of course, you do have to coordinate things in your personal life like dentist appointments, vehicle repairs, package deliveries, and so on. So some access to facilities are warranted during business hours. Even coordination of exceptions within your social circle is important, such as short-notice cancellation of a gathering due to bad weather for example. Too bad that gets used as a reason to hang over your iPhone every 10 minutes.

But decades ago, they had behaviour which was just as bad and even more expensive. Characters would be tying up FM radio channels from the field into town every night from 4 to 11pm just to talk useless garbage to their wives! Try getting your end-of-day report sent in through that congestion, so you could get some sleep before a 4:30am wakeup call!

Well our Eastern based company with the branch here being run by an easterner of course because Albertan's are lazy and don't know what they are doing (which by the way has absolutely no idea about the industry in Alberta) ....has decided that certain things shall not be available to us on the internet.

Any blog site- blocked

Photo bucket- blocked. That one ****es me off. Lot's of pics on this site that I really like to see.

Next will probably be anything related to firearms......

So..it's been 15 years since this company purchased the company that I work for.... About 2 1/2 - 3 hrs a day extra work for no extra pay....and yes I do keep a calendar. Oh and if I miss a day a year sick, that would be the most if that.

They might need some additional help now that I WILL be starting at 8.00 AM and I will be taking my 1 hr lunch.

..and no I have not abused the internet usage...if I'm on a total of 20 minutes a day that would surprise me.

Hmmmm 7.23 another 57 minutes before I start work
You mean 37 min....
