Default How did you do this hunting season? Are you happy with .....

what you got? Well I have been away from this message board for awhile spenting about 1.5 months makeing out door christmas decorations etc, etc, and well I was wondering how well all you hunters did this hunting season. Are you happy with what you got or are you a little disappointed? As I said in other posts I am glad I got my deer early. My new jod took me away from my otherwise longer hunting season. Therefore my mulie tags went unused. Oh I got to go about 3 days for a buck, but....nothing, I got to go about 5 days for a mulie doe but again nothing. Oh I saw some but all near the Village where I live. All within the town limits. On a brighter note I did get 3 Whites and I found new hunting grounds closer to home. Plus on those lands I got to see moose, now if I get my moose draw next year I know where I will be heading. I should have become a member of the A.F.G.A. a long time ago. Of course you don't need to be a member to hunt on the land but I believe it is only right to do so. You get a strong voice for the hunter and you help preserve good hunting grounds and a number of other things as well. I plan to join Leduc Fish & game as well and this well add on to the other two. Leduc F.& G. helped me out alot. Well please fill me in on your hunting adventures. I thankyou all in advance. I also thankyou fellow hunters for some tips I got from some of the posts/threads that you put up, yes sir this hunting site is a help and a learning tool as well.<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif" />

Default no taxidermy getting done this year!!

it was so-so, lots of effort, money and miles..but trophy hunting limits ones experiences to all but the biggest returns, it comes with the territory.
freezer is full of moose, and thats whats really important.
2007 is my year for a booner, then again, ive said that every year.

A white wolf...man I haven't seen one of them in 8 years and it was all pure white. The first one and only one me and my family ever saw, it was on highway 16 between Edson and Hinton with the mate. The white wolf was eating a dead deer while the other keep a look out. Good for you.

A good season all around, I didnt get a booner, but did manage to take a doe with the bow. As for the rest of the season, My girlfriend filled all 3 of her W/T tags, taking her first buck. And my dad filled all his deer tags as well.
I really enjoyed being there for all of the animals taken.
Needless to say, I spent alot of time being a guide, and loved every moment.
And as I told dad, You have been taking me out hunting since I was 4, now it is time for me to repay you for all you taught me.

It went pretty good for me, got a decent WT doe, other than that I was skunked, but still had a blast getting out with friends and my dad. Our first attempt at sausage turned out pretty good too.

As I look back this was by far the most memorable year for me. Not only in number or quality of animals but of the memories I have of various hunts I had both by myself and with my hunting buddies:
Spring bear:

Pheasant and Sharptails with my young dog:

Goose hunting with my daughter:

Moose with friends:

A blue goose (I've tried to harvest one for years):

First ever buck with my muzzle loader:

Every year I like to try to "out do" what I accomplished the year before, while I realize this isn't always possible I'm definately looking forward to next year.

Nice pictures, nice dog, and it is nice to see your daughter out hunting with you. Just wondering, did your daughter ever watch Bambi? For if she did and still wanted to go hunting with you and hold up a dead goose, then I would say that you may have a new hunter in your home. Good for her.

sheephunter did you hunt in Sask., and if so did you get what you were after?

just got an elk, a doe and a small whitetail buck. i guess the season was ok, the elk was a suprise. the small buck was more of a pity kill as he was obviously injured. tried for my moose a few times but no luck, well, passed up on a few small bulls, but being by myself, he'd have to be a biggun' for me to take one. some grouse along the way, some rabbits and some good memories.

Default bambi

Both my daughters watched Bambi and other movies like Brother Bear. My oldest won't go with me hunting (she's 6) and thinks I shouldn't hunt. My youngest (4) thinks hunting is cool and loves to go. They've been raised the same, I've had talks with both of them about hunting and how benificial it is for us and for wildlife, just goes to show that everyone is different and has different opinions, I'm just thankful that at least one of the girls in my house is on my side.
BB that elk was with your bow wasn't it? That makes for a great season right there....

after 6 years of hunting ive done it ive bagged a verry respectable buck scoring in the mid 130s this came as a bit of a shock because i am more of a bird hunter and its been three years since venicin has made it to the table . i managed to take 6 ducks this year 7 geese a mixture of diferent breeds 5 hungarian partriges and two sharptails my beagle was on fire flushing birds left right and center.

Worst ever, by a mile... two ducks, one partridge.... blah. Mind you, didn't get out much, but my traditional areas seemed barren, and I'm not much of an advance scouter. I'll have to improve that next year.

Getting so little, I'm feeling like I still need to hunt. Perhaps I'll give coyotes and other furry things I can still hunt this time of year a try. Never done that before.

Ended up with my cow moose being filled, but me whitey tag, & mulie doe draw are hangin on the tree this year, but on the bright side, me freezer is fairly full, so at least I was able to Harvest what I did , and I'm happy ' bout that. Not many days in the field this year, so theres always next year right?
