Default Savage .270 help, maybe?

Ok, long story short. Went out last weekend for final rifle check on my .270wsm, .243, and my.223. These are all savages, model 16 weather warriors.
Now before anyone anything about them being Savages and being crap, i have never had a single issue.
The .270 is a tack driver and shot great. I put 3 rounds through it, put it away.
I get home and notice the stock is cracked below the lever, now its a wiggly stock. Don't know how it happened, i baby my stuff.
So I call savage, they have the stock in stock but due to being aquired by nee company cannot ship to canada. Called the 4 warranty places in Canada, no go. Called Savage Canada, nope.
Got a laminate stock coming from Boyds but I'm not sure how its going to fit a rifle that has an accustock?
Now im going to hunt with the .243. Its not a problem but have never shot a deer with this caliber.
Anyone have a short action left hand stock for a savage they want to sell?
Need if for the .270wsm.
Im frustrated at the lack of service and brick walls i've bern up against.
Thanks for listening.

I could help you out if you didn't shoot backwards. Wondering if an importer lick profit river could get it right from savage for you. You may run into some issues with the boyds. I have never put one on the accustock models because they have always been a good stock.

Cracked below what lever?

It's a bolt action rifle I thought.

Maybe post a picture.

243 will be fine for deer. Good luck with a new stock. Try fixing it with some epoxy

Sorry, cracked below the bolt handle, starting in the bolt groove. Bad terminology. I guess .243 it is.
Thanks guys.

Could you not temporarily put the stock from the .243 or the .223 on the .270 if they're all the same model? Otherwise, the .243 is perfect for deer.

Bummer! That's three of those stocks I have seen crack now.

I have a LH model 116 in a Weather Warrior in .223, never had an issue but I think the magnum chambering a might cause issues.

Do you use a lead sled by chance?

I think the .243 might fit but am reluctant to pull one off for the other. The 243 shoots great too. The .223 is a blind mag and non accustock, wont work.
I was not using a lead sled. I was shooting off a portable table and stuffed backpack. It was fine for the time i was shooting.
Never dropped it or banged it. It was hot that day, but rifle lay in the open soft case to cool. I dunno what could have happened. Previous stress crack?
Any way see what happens.
Thanks,
Tullfan.

If it was mine I would skim bed it, get rid of the wedge, and repair the stock. But that's just me.

So I guess after this you would not recommend this product after this happened, I was/am looking at getting a Savage axis XP 270 (with scope) so I take it this is a typical thing to happen to this model?
I live in Edmonton, I was looking at Cabelas and Wholesale sports P&D

An axis is NOT a model 16. Completely different animal.

Thank you for that.

I have 3 of the same rifle model. .270WSM, .243, .223, and traded a .300wsm.
All stainless with synthetic stocks. This is the very FIRST issue with any of them. They all shoot exceptional and I would absoloutly not hesitate to buy another. The only problem here really is timing. I'd like to use the .270 but its broke. It'll get fixed, just might be a bit to get a new stock.I panicked a bit. The .243 will be fine and I'll have the .30/30 as backup.
Thanks.

I don't have any savage centerfires but it doesn't look like savage warranty is worth a darn. I would be writing a few letters to savage I think.

It goes without saying, I hope you find a quick resolution to this.

I needed a stock for my model 10 and used the warranty center in eastern canada called Randy's gunsmithing. Took 4 days I paid the shipping. took pictures and sent them directly to savage and they gave the ok! Be very clear about what you need and want!
