Are you asking about how to clean a gun? Do you need instructions on how to do this? There's probably specific instructions available on the net for your firearm. A good idea would be to provide that information on this thread so people can offer you assistance for your specific firearm.

I'm pretty thorough with mine. Every month while it's in storage, I strip it down and make sure everything's got a good coat of oil. Everything gets a brush, scrub, and wipe with an oily rag. It's not necessary, I know, but I'd rather have an over-maintained rifle than run over it quickly and end up with a rusty nut or something.

But then again, my rifle hasn't got any stainless components, and it's an oldie, so I may be a bit paranoid.

I think he's really asking "what are the common denominators between all rifles?" in other words, what do you ALWAYS have to clean, regardless of make/model? That's what I think, anyway.

I think he was asking if you always have to oil after you clean, I think.
Now I'm confused.

It's best to wipe all exposed metal with a rag that has been made damp with oil. Don't soak your parts in it or leave enough on the surfaces to pool up and drip. It helps minimize the rust and other crud hardening on the surfaces.

I use a cheap shaving brush to dust and distribute oil over all external surfaces. Works really well for the itty bitty nooks and crannies. Leaves a nice even coat.

Whenever I shoot I always clean the barrel with solvent and patches. After the patches are coming out clean I spray a patch with Rem oil and run that through the bore. Prior to shooting them again I run a few dry patches through the bore. The bolts I generally just give them a light spray of Rem oil then wipe them off. I only take the bolts apart and clean them about once a year unless I have got them wet.

I only use lubricant behind the recoil lugs since I started coating my guns with DGS. No need to oil the exterior for rust protection anymore...

G96 works well, I find Hopps solvent does a little better job of cleaning,
but G96 is convienient all in one and does a pretty good job. I clean the barrel and action with solvent or G96 and use a light coat of oil if I clean with solvent, after every time I shoot, usually do a more complete cleaning once a year, depending on how much you shoot.

I'll run a brush soaked with butches bore shine then patch till they come out clean, then run oil down then a dry patch once to take up any access oil,i use a bore guide to do all of this.then use action cleaning brush like a tooth brush clean my bolt face with butches then oil the bolt and light oil to the action

Picked up some " Wipe out" cleaner and accelerator at last years Calgary gun show and started to use after the 2012 hunt season. Wow! It works awesome. This year I'll pick up the wipe out for shotguns. Using a bore scope, the barrel is spotless.
I also wipe down the outside with a lill browning gun oil 4.
