Scope for my 10/22VLEH

I have a the "new" 10/22VLEH tactical target model on backorder and have been going back and forth on what glass to bolt on to it. I have heard good things about the Mueller 4.5x16x40 as well as the Vortex Crossfire series.
This is the place to ask the resident experts, and since I haven't had a .22 with these specs for accuracy before I was hoping for recommendations on a scope under $200. Will be used mostly for gophers/popcans/dirt clumps under 200yds.

Any advice would be appreciated (reticle rec's as well!) . MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 on my Volquartsen, but most people would not spend that kind of money on a 22lr. I am curious as to what you are expecting for accuracy with this rifle? What ammunition do you intend to use?

I just put a Simmons ProTarget 6X18 on my 10/22. Hav eonly used it onve but it seems to do the job just fine. It's got BDC and cost right around $180

Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 is just a hair above that budget at $220.00 but is a lot more scope than a crossfire.

I haven't considered ammo yet but I'm sure the majority of rnds through this ruger will be cheap bricks for plinking around. I am hoping to put respectable groups together at 100yds but won't go as far as to say how close. haha

I took a look at the diamondback online and noticed it lacks the AO. I spent a little more on this gun over the stock version for the barrel, trigger (ok, looks..) and hoping to spend a couple afternoons setting targets at 200 and seeing what I/it can do. For that reason I thought the AO may be nice?

Ammunition will likely be the limiting factor where accuracy is concerned, especially at longer ranges. Sub moa may be possible at 100 or even 200 yards, but it will not be easy using cheap, bulk ammunition.

When you get it try CCI blazer in it. I have a 10/22 target and it does very well with this round for plinking even at 100 yards. Plus I get it for 20$ a brick!

Where did you order your 10/22 VLEH from? Have you been given a date for delivery?

I would normally be using the AO for UNDER 100 yards not much for over.

Ya I could have put that a lot better. Short story long.. I want enough scope for longer shots occasionally but if the majority of shots end up being under 50yds I don't know if I'd kick myself for not spending the extra $100 to add AO. (in the case of the vortex diamondback) Also I've only ever owned open sight guns so no idea if it's all complete overkill.

Oh, ordered through WSS in Calgary. Hoping to get it early spring, but who knows

I purchased mine last spring and put the Nikon 3-9 .22 LR scope on it with the BDC reticle in it. The gun is a true tack driver, so smooth and a blast to shoot. I purchased about 8 different boxes of ammo to find which one shot the best group. Keep in mind I bought this gun for shooting gophers and such so I did not buy any of the so called target ammo. The one that shot the nicest group was the CCI Segmented Hollow Points at 1640 fps. The bullet breaks into 3 pce's on impact and does amazing damaged. The picture with the dime is the lead from 10 shots fired one after the other into the same hole fused together and pulled from a tree at about 40 yards.
