Question Interest in guiding/outfitting? How can i get started?

Ever since I can remember I have had a strong interest in hunting. Recently finished highschool I've been looking to dig into those roots with potential employment along the lines of a lifestyle within that career. I am currently enrolled @ Lethbridge College in the Criminal Justice - Policing Program. I am hoping for a potential future within the RCMP. Recently, my feeling have been starting to change, maybe due to me really not knowing what I would like to do for a future career. One thing has always been a for sure and was made clear after my experience with my friend out of Stettler. His uncle guides whitetails and mulies, my buddy was able to offer an experience much like what his uncle offers due to knowing the land, techniques, movements and really understanding deer habits. I was able to guide my little brother out there this past rifle season and he dropped his first ever buck. Even earlier through archery and rifle season I helped many people bag a first deer or an animal in general.

What I'm trying to get at is I would like to get into guiding, almost like apprenticing or job shadow at the moment. Help out with the company, maintaining land and property, feeding of livestock, setting up excursions, as well as guiding hunts, etc. It would be great if people could direct me to companys that are looking for an extra hand and/or information on what it is I need to get started with a company as I do not have suffiecient land myself to offer hunts.

Thanks

Well look no further son. I have all the work you can handle. I've got about 60-70 miles of new trail to open up next spring. I'll teach you all you need to know about the business after supper each night, that is if you can keep your eyes open after lugging that chainsaw around for 16 hours a day. The pay is non-existant and you'll get fed at least every other day. But don't worry there's plenty of gas for that chainsaw so you won't be standing around too much. You might as well get used to a life of pain and suffering right off the bat. The glorry of the kill is only about .5% of what you'll be doing. It's cold, wet, and you learn to live with everything you own being damp. You'll listen to hunters complain about everything from the food, to the weather, to the lack of trophy animals tied up to trees outside of camp and everything in between. And just when you think you can't take it anymore the season is over. About 5 days after you get home and you've eatin some real food, you start to miss it all. And all you think about is getting back out there next year.

I wouldn't give it up for anything
