Default shore fishing for stocked trout

I have caught some great fish this year but recently hit a dry spell twice when fishing off shore/using bait. I have tried numerous colors and styles of powerbait, pickerel rigs, sizes of weights and hooks. I tried using a slip bobber too. Anyone have some magic suggestions for me to improve my success?

Downsize you line, float , hook. Use some real bait like worms or roe.

super small hooks at present, 6lb test, float the size of a grape..... still no cigar. I will get some worms but it is weird because the powerbait has always worked before.

Try VELVETA.

That greasy cheese leaves a smoke trail no stocked rainbow can resist. Just keep it cold and mold it like powerbait or cut into small cubes.

Try it ..... pretty weird but it works like a charm.

Let us know how you do.

the problem seems to be the time of day I am fishing (mid day) and going to stocked waters. Fishing non stocked is a hit, while twin and dickson are super slow.....stocked. Worms didn't work either. weird. I'll try some of the other suggestions but my sense is that the waters I am fishing this week are the problem. Bite goes on and off sometimes I guess.
