Default Start of the snow season… whatcha getting?

Calgary has a 10-15 cm snowfall warning for today.

South Calgary so far as of 8:30 am has just seen rain.

I expect to get no snow as my oil is changed in the snow blower, I filled the gas tank and got extra gas handy. Started it up yesterday and went on the second pull and purred like a snow leopard.

All the yard chores are done.

So ya. Won’t snow now that I’m prepared.

Default Emptied the rain barrels...

Put away all the hoses, got the snow tires on the Toyota, 6 weeks of summer, 4 weeks of fall and 30 - 40 weeks of winter. That's Alberta living close to the mountains. I met a woman at the "dump" yesterday, toque, winter coat and boots and she told me that she was on her way to Texas today. Just rain so far 0830 Monday. I was still wearing shorts and sandals! Well it won't be long now.

We are getting ready to visit the penquins in February, must be crazy!

There are still lots of leaves on some of the trees. Hopefully there isn't a lot of tree damage from the snow load. The last couple of years have been tough on the neighbourhood trees.

Did the last of the yard work yesterday. Mowed the lawn/picked up leaves. Started the snowblower. Parked the lawn mower at the back of the shed. Put the patio furniture away. Got out the snow shovels. Drained the garden hose for the final time. Turned off the outside water, etc, etc. We should be ready to go.

It's been a great fall. Nice and warm with some rain to help the trees get one last drink.

Gonna put the snow tires on the car before I head to work this afternoon.

Just a skiff so far, but Saturday I put the new studded snow tires from Tirebob on the truck, and ran the snowblower , so I am ready for winter.

Varied flurries in the "Chuk". Trouble is the roads are still warm and snow is melting, and will eventually freeze to a black ice condition.

Same as every fall transition. But you can bet the ACE SNOW PLOW CREWS at the City of Edmonton will get out to sand the roads, in a week or three.

Still need to put bobs winter tires on the vehicles.

I’m procrastinating on that. Did all the other stuff in the yard.

1 pm and still no snow.

4-6" last evening in NW Calgary, another 4" overnight. Already piling up between the houses, gonna have to get the blower out to clear the cul-de-sac this evening when I get home from work.

Lots of drivers taking it very easy on the roads coming in today. Sometimes a bother, but would rather have those than the opposite.....

Fair bit of snow now.

The Diamond Interchange at Sunvalley and McLeod is a mess whenever it snows as the roads zigzag and weave the lines are invisible so 5 lanes become 1.

Come out of the condo this morning and was expecting some snow as there was when I parked last evening. None to be had, streets are bare. Some Accumulation on the grass and boulevards.

Forecast is for plus 6 next week.

We have at least 6 inches but a significant amount at the beginning of the snowfall. So likely we have had 8-9 inches so far. The snow continues to fall. The ground is losing heat fast. Lakes are steaming hard.
