Automotive anti theft device.
Seems our neighbourhood is getting bad for vehicle theft, my truck is always parked on the street and at times it doesn’t move for a week.
Been thinking of some sort of anti theft device any recommendation?

Pull the battery. They replace fuses, they know that trick and all the rest.

Our work truck in Airdrie had its exhaust stolen again last week2013 f350. This is the second time in less than a year. The first go around was 11g’s. This time we are having the truck deleted and there will be nothing to steal. Cant have nothing nice. It would be nice to just happen to sneak up on them. It is after all a motorcycle shop, were all very friendly, most times.
Anyway. People just suck.

Jeez that's crazy. So much for only taking things that are not bolted down. I know tail gates are pretty popular. Having to buy a new one then have it painted and buy new back up cam and wiring gets pricey very fast. Make sure they're always locked. You can even get a tiny lock that goes around the hinge. It prevents the lowlife from removing the tail gate.

Aftermarket Alarm System
Something with a starter kill, most aftermarket alarm systems have that feature built in. Unless the thief can locate the alarm brain and successfully remove it and rewire the vehicle back to stock then nobody can bypass it and start the vehicle. Mine also has a proximity sensor that gives off a quick chirp when someone gets inside the preset radius. Some thieves don't care about an alarm system the same way they don't care about security cameras but it sure weeds out the opportunistic ones which i would guess is most of them. I also park in a garage & that sure minimizes my chances of being a victim.
You can buy stand alone immobilizers for cheap but that wont stop a scumbag from breaking into your vehicle for loose change.

Make sure nothing is visible inside the vehicle.
Don’t leave anything of value in the vehicle
Keep it clean.
Locked and parked where it is well lit if possible.
Vehicle theft is a crime of opportunity.
Do what you can and hopefully you won’t be a target.
Car alarms don’t do anything to deter a theif and no one looks anymore when they hear a car alarm going off.

There is VERY little you can do if someone truly wants your vehicle.
I throw a steering wheel lock on, and yes, while cordless cutoff wheel will have it off in 5 seconds, 9/10 they will move down the road to the next car.
This new age, with the push button start, makes it VERY easy to steal a car. Google it.
Oh, and LOCK YOUR FREAKING DOORS. MY neighbourhood was having tons if issues with stolen vehicles and "broke in" vehicles. But it was only people that left their cars unlocked.

I had an uncle that has his vehicle rigged to break dogs of peeing on the tires. Something similar would work on thieves too. He hooked up two live wires to his hubcaps and when a dog took a leak he would get a life lesson shock. They would never pee on hubcaps again. He had a hidden toggle to turn on the wires.
A couple live wires to the door handles, ignition or steering wheel with a charge strong enough to curl the theives hair.
A person should hide a GPS tracking chip in the vehicle as an after theft device too. Then they could get on the internet and see exactly where their vehicle is moving.

Actually, most people leave there doors unlocked now to prevent window breakage....However, I do not....LOL

Having bought this summer, a sweet F250 with the V10, I am searching for some kind of theft deterrent to prevent the easiest of stolen trucks from leaving my driveway in the night. Took a long time to find the truck I wanted, don't need some crack head taking it.
Thinking a wheel boot, anyone know if their easy to deactivate?

Hidden kill switch and removable steering wheel. problem solved. Although they can easily drag it onto a flat deck or tow it away.
You're probably better off getting a decent GPS tracking device and just locating it when it does get stolen.

Check out ravelco they're expensive but supposedly never have had a stolen vehicle with their system and there's a guy just just south of Leduc
that puts them in

A hidden battery cut off switch may slow them down. They may thing the battery is dead and likely wont want to hang around to boost.
I still say a claymore is the best deterrent.

Pending what truck you drive....this might help.
On Facebook there is a group called AB/SK Stolen Vehicles. If you go to the page there is a post near the top of a product made in Red Deer. It is posted by the "inventor", Barry Johnston.
I ordered one just the other day on a top shelf recommendation from a buddy of mine. Barry was very easy to deal with...never met him, but seems like a pretty straight shooter. Got a little cranky that someone stole his truck so he came up with this idea.
It wraps around the steering column and allows no access to anything. It fits a couple models of ford & dodge diesels but I'm sure he could make one for pretty much anything.
Have a look at it......awesome product invented/made by a good ol' Alberta welder (maybe he's a machinist).

lol... A battery cut off switch is a touch less likely to get you persecuted by the Crown than a claymore.
Although the claymore is more like the final solution...

If you have theft on your insurance ,and if they break in your car and they can not steal it it is not theft . it is called vandalism and you have to pay the deductible . On theft you do not have to pay the deductible.
So if they make $1000 damage you better hope they drive it down the road.
Best is to have steering wheel bar. this way they can see it and will not break in.
You do not want a disconnect switch ,unless you will switch it back on so you can drive it down the block and say it was stolen.
My truck was stolen 5 times . always got it back .
Damage from them just stealing it ,was $5000. each time.
Always got a free rental, and truck came home from body shop very clean,new wheel alinement and new windshield

They attempted to steal mine and I did not have to pay the deductible. Still left a heck of a lot of damage.

Brake locks don't provide a visual deterrent like the club even though the club is removable in seconds by cutting the steering wheel with a hacksaw etc. The brake locks are much more difficult to remove though and most crooks wouldn't bother. https://www.amazon.ca/Etopars-Vehicl...03662547&psc=1

I like the looks of that. My new to me F250 came with a club but we all know that is more of a deterrent to move on and easy to get by. Maybe the two in tandem will make the scum bag keep looking.
