Default Sheep Hunters-Stone Glacier Pack Reviews?

After using Eberlestock and Mystery Ranch for the past few years I have decided to try something new. I have narrowed it down to possibly a Kifaru or most likely a Stone Glacier(See link Below)

http://stoneglacier.com/Sky7400.html

I have no problem with ES or MR and I think they have their place on some hunts and some people love them for everything but they do not work for me.

For a 10 day solo sheep hunt I want something that is simple in design and theory, limited zippers(limits failures) and has a good load shelf design *if* I need it. Obviously there are more factors then this but I would like to hear what other have to say about SG.

Has anyone had any recent experience with Stone Glacier packs on similar trips. I have seen a few comparisons on this site but I would like to hear the pro's/cons of Stone Glacier in particular.

Thank you!

I have the sky 5100 bought this year an I really like it. I went on a 10 day horse back trip with it and got to pack out 2 sheep out on different days. about 80lbs total the one day for about 6-8km back to camp using the load shelf and it felt great the other sheep I packed day gear and head and cape 2-3km back to horses and it felt great. Obviously I didn't really put it to the test of a 10day pack hunt but I am very impressed with how the sky's go from being a full pack to a day pack in bivy mode. I was also very impressed how the load shelf handles the weight.

Default Great

Thank you for the reply, My main concern was how the load shelf truly worked. I find that on some designs the load will shift heavily even when completely compressed by the bag.(KUIU)

There needs to be a store that has 10 of the top bags lined up with 80 lbs in each for testing purposes!!

Where are you located? I don't have the Sky 7400 I've got a Terminus. I could load it up and you could try it on for sizing and feel. And yes, I like my Terminus.

Thanks for the offer, I am just south of Calgary in High River. I do frequently head north for work, If you don't mind I may hold you to that offer next trip up!

I would really appreciate it.
