scent control
Just wondering what the archers here are doing for scent control? Between all the soaps, sprays, special clothing, electronics and voodoo out there, what's worked for you?
My hunting pack had Gulp juice spilled in it...i'm going through my process of decontamination and it got me wondering what scent control regime I should put into place for bow hunting...

I wash clothes/ packs in a scent eliminating soap for hunting cloths...never use normal clothing detergents besides crazy scent they have UV brightners...I pre wash machine even before adding cloths..clean out liquid softner compartment and any other scented detergant compartments in machine also.
I add baking soda and hang on a cloths line for added scent control...I store in sealed plastic vacum bag with Earth Scent Waffers and A old sock with dried leaves, twigs etc, spuce needles or sage pending on where I am hunting...make sure anything you add natural for scent is dried as anything added for scent that is green will create a solar still and dampen clothes when stored in sealed plastic containors /bags ...nothing worse than putting on wet or damp clothes on a cool opening morning...lol

I spray myself head to toe with scent killer and always wash all my camo in scent kiler detergent. It absolutely works, don't let people tell you its a marketing scheme.
I was sitting in some tall grass overlooking a watering hole a few years ago and a w.t. doe and her fawn caught a glimpse of me moving. They walked right up to me 5 yards away, she looked right at me stuck her nose in the air and began sniffing around for 5 minutes trying to figure out what I was before just turning around and going back to drinking. After that experience I realized how important it can be. Of course the wind is always the biggest factor. The idea of scent killer isn't to completely eliminate your scent, it is just to make your scent so faint that the animals wont spook because they think you are still a long ways away.

Remember that near 1/3 of your scent is from breathing alone, play the wind and enjoy your time a field...
There are many who smoke on stand and are successful as well...
I will add that the "box" does work, won't always save your bacon, but certainly has helped everyone I know who uses them in the field.
Best of luck...

Big thing for me is wearing good rubber boots to minimize my scent trail and I tuck my pants into the boots. I think people generally are very careful to spray themselves down head to toe but generally do not do anything for the scents left on their bow, day pack, etc. Main thing is play the wind you can't eliminate all the scents.

I spray down from head to toe with scent killer and shower with scent Elimantor soaps. Had a few deer 5-15 yards away from me and a few that got downwind of me that didnt smell me or know what I was last year so I would say that it definatly works
