Default 2 days, no deer, great outcome!

Spent the weekend hunting. First day weather was bad, snowy and windy, so we saw no deer at all. Second day we had a chance at one on a cut line, we stalked it for about 20 mins, kept coming in and out of the bush. At the end he went in and never came out, so we carried on. We knew this area had lots of dear because we heard shots everywhere, and one truck had 5 deers in their trunk.

So as the best time of the day got closer (about 1hr before shooting light ended) we're driving and we see a guy in the middle of the road waving at us, we get closer and turned out his truck was stuck in the middle of nowhere, for 2 hrs with his wife and 3 kids!

We got him to hop in and drove to where his truck was, he walked for about an hr looking for anyone to pass by and saw no one.. That time everyone pretty much left the area as workers finished and hunters probably filled their tags.

By the time we got his truck out of the ditch the day was over, we expected to see some deer during that last hr but honestly didn't care anymore, we were just happy that we where there at the right time and the right place and that the family didn't have get stuck there over night. No phone signal where they were at.

As we're driving back home we see absolutely no trucks at all so that made us realize that they were lucky we were still around and honestly I was happier about that than us getting any deer.

Way to go! You have a great attitude and the world will be kinder to you because of it.
I agree it would have been aweful for that family if you weren't there to help.

Good on you guys, your right sometimes just knowing you saved somebody some real hardship is worth all the deer in the bush. And tomorrow is another day. For your good deed I granting you your big deer wish, don't laugh this has worked for others. LOL

Just the fact you pulled him out will come back on you, in a good way. If you don't offer to pull someone out, dont expect someone to pull you out some day lol.

With that said, when i went out to help ol pesky out of the rhubarb everyone said I would get a nice deer as payment for my good deed. It's been the worst year ever for seeing bucks lol. Still a few daya to go yet though.

Good job on helping the guy out. Your the happy ending to a story the wife and kids will probably never let ol.dad forget lol

No deer in the country can give you greater honor than the sacrifices you've made.

Good on ya!!! We were on the other end of that situation a few weeks ago about 7 kms in on a track and the truck ends up going in the skeg! BIL walked out with a buddy while being passed be untold parties of hunters on quads all unwilling to help and some even poking jokes and being rude and sarcastic!! Finally got some help from a good ole boy who was pushing 60 and by himself! Thanks again Henry if you're on here! Karma is a b_tch and you got some good stuff coming your way!! Good luck on the rest of the season!

Hehehe yea I was very happy to realize that a decision to take a right instead of a left made us find this guy walking looking for help, he was deep inside took us like 40mins to leave the area by car.

This year I already shot my 7x7 and a doe. I wanted my buddies to fill their tags. We gave some meat away to some older family members who dont hunt so i might end up going sometime this week to fill my freezer with a doe tag. I've had a great season. Learned lots and met new hunting partners.

Just really remember to be safe wherever you go, you cant mess around with nature.

That's a good story, glad there are people out there like you to help his fellow man.

Me and a friend set up hunting camp on the weekend. As soon as nightfall hit (5ish), all roads in the surrounding area were dead until 6am.. It was great having such a tranquil atmosphere, but if you get stuck out there no one is going to find you until the next day.
