Default Grouse in lodge pole

Went out Friday saw more big game than I've seen in years in the lodge pole area but didn't see any grouse. From what I've been reading sounds like a good year for grouse any suggestions for next weekend.

I find in my past hunts....the grouse are either on... Or near the lease roads around first light...... And then between 330pm and 6pm... They are about 10-30 feet off the sides of the roads.

Just really got to scan quickly. They blend in really good right now.

Default A Couple

I was hunting Lodgepole as well, Friday, we got 1 Sprucie and 1 Ruffie, your right there was solid numbers, we seen 18 Whitetail Does, they seem pretty jumpy already, just couldn't get any to hold up for a second or two, at the end of the day with about 20 minutes left we got the perfect play and tagged one!!..

I couldn't believe driving through Drayton Valley around 8 p.m. the number of 5th wheels and toy boxes heading west, betcha it's a gong show out there this weekend!!

I have a Yellow Lab, But only bring her if we are looking for grouse only.

Deer are skittish and jumpy all over.

Where are you guys seeing all these does? I need to fill the freezer. I rarely see any deer in 339. Maybe I hunt too close to lodgepole?
