It's funny how the media got ahold of this and whipped everyone into a frenzy.
Cocaine has medical uses and has been in use in hospitals for a long time. Where do people think it's been coming from to supply the hospitals? This company can only produce and distribute for medical use, its not for distribution to the public.
About 15 years ago my buddy got his nose broken badly in a fight and had to get it re broken and set properly by a plastic surgeon. The surgeon had a vial of cocaine dissolved in saline that he dipped a long swab and used as a topical anesthetic for the inside of his nose. My buddy had the surgeon howling when he told him "cocaine got me into this mess, it's only fitting it gets me out of it too".

I'd actually prefer that, at least you pay a hooker to leave. The government is here to stay and gets to rape up any time they feel like and steal our wallets while they are at it.

You are indeed correct Sir! That said, BC did criminalize opioids (heroin, morphine and fentanyl), meth, cocaine, crack cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy).
What a world we live in!

In order to subdue the Chinese population and suppress a rebellion in the 19th century and to further advance the Empire, Great Britain vigorously promoted the use of opiods among the Chinese people.
While Health Canada, under the direction of the Government of Canada and Prime Minister Trudeau has seemingly abandoned it's own mandates eg." To regulate products and manage health risks", is this also a directive issued by Trudeau's real bosses, the CCP?
Anyone whose priority is a good outcome for the Canadian people would be totally against this. That leaves out JT.
Next scandal?

Legalize drugs
But god forbid you own a .22 rifle with a 25rd magazine....or have loud pipes on your bike.....or spear a bear.....or have a case of beer on your passenger floor.....or shovel snow onto the roadway....or fail to ride horses in single file on a roadway.....
If a country EVER needed to see politicians dangling like Christmas ornaments, it's Canada.
But as long as the hockey game is on, I guess it aint too bad......

And yet the thread just keeps rollin' on ignoring factual information regarding this "story".
Once again spun by trash rags with an Agenda in a mischaracterized fairytale.
Blindly consuming the crap that is fed to us without taking a moment to do our own data driven factual research. Perfect sheep.
This is totally a non story, as you mentioned, this will be used in medical/hospital applications creating a domestic supply from Canada instead of buying the exact same products from other countries. Total non issue. Ridiculous overreaction as people spout ignorant nonsense about something they did zero research on as the repeat the dribble they been fed.
There will be no "cocaine dispensary" available to/for public consumption. Period. This is a pharmaceutical license to supply hospitals.
Either way .... I'm enjoying all the silly comments from people who took ZERO effort to read, understand or research facts.
Keep the thread rollin' boys. I'm getting the popcorn ready.

There will be no "cocaine dispensary" available to/for public consumption. It's for medical/hospital supply to replace products currently being purchased outside the country. This is a good move that will create revenues, jobs and secure our own supply of critical drugs to treat people so we are not captive to sources outside the country.

Yup.
The boys got pretty worked up over a non issue.

The other thing going on here, which has nothing to do with the BC law itself regarding criminal possession, and just happens to be going on at the same time ... is the feds are licensing one of the approved suppliers to produce products for hospitals containing, or as derivatives from cocaine. They happen to be in BC - so this is being mixed up (purposely or by ignorance) by media and people.
The attached is PERFECT example of hyping and combining two separate issues and misleading the consumers.

I have strong reservations on opioids given their highly addictive properties (more harm than good?) but MDMA along with psilocybin and a few others have been showing some strong potential in dealing with mental health issues. I fully support opening up medical access to these drugs for testing and controlled trials. Psilocybin has already been used very successfully to help with PTSD for example among other mental health issues. In one case A guy with crippling OCD was basically cured with one high dose trip on psilocybin...the interesting part was that not only did it instantly help symptoms but instead of having waning efficacy over time seemed to have continuing improvement over time. Given the huge human and $ cost of mental health disorders it is worth investigating every avenue for treating these issues. Including drugs which have been highly over stigmatized because there is no controlled access and some choose to misuse them.
If in doubt it is worth some searching info on some of these trials. There is a docuseries we watched psychedelics for treatment that was very interesting. I believe we caught it on netflix.

This is how stoopid our leaders are.
David Eby's government makes it legal to posses cocaine and then is ASTONISHED when an enterprising corporation working within the legal framework you created acts upon your laws.
What did they think was going to happen...... I'm astonished at the lack of thought to this.
