Maybe the best use of these bullets is not in the ultra fast flat shooting magnums. I know a guy who runs the 175 grain ELDX bullet out of a 7mm08 under 2600FPS and has had zero issues with "undesirable performance" on quite a few deer and a nice big bull elk.
But all of his shots are under 400 yards and really he is an older gentleman who says that if the deer is dead the bullet did its job.
Ive had good luck with the Amax bullets in the past just by running them slower. Maybe it defeats to purpose for some guys....
