Default Looking for experience

I'm considering getting a 6.5x55 off tradex as a project rifle. Anyone have experience with buying these rifles? When they are listed as good bore, dark bore ECT what have you seen for accuracy? Not expecting .5moa for less than 400$ and often even under 300$ but groups like shotgun patterns arnt interesting to me either.

I have bought four '96's from Tony and Anthony over the years and several friends have bought a lot of Mausers as well.
Every one has was a good shooter , and they go out of their way to make sure you get what you want

I have bought a 96 in 6.5x55 and it was exactly as they discribed it. It shot well and was a good buy.
I later bought a Schultz and Larsen in 6.5x55 and it out shots all other rifles I own.
I would only look at the good bores.

You can trust the guys at Trade ex when they describe the bore. If you have any questions give them a call and they will gladly help you out. Great to deal with and the 6.5x55 is an excellent choice.

Just some things to look for other than bore condition if you are going to scope it....

Is it taped for weaver type bases, or has weaver type scope bases ?

Low swing safety installed or side safety? The original safety interferes with scope mounting unless you use very high/see thru mounts .

Sporterized military stock or true sporter stock with higher comb for scoped shooting ?

Is bolt bent/modified for scope clearance ??

The 6.5 x 55 is a great cal , and the 96 is a great old gun.

Thanks. I have built more than a few rifles off 98 actions so all the same concerns apply was more concerned with barrel condition and overall condition as the only rifle I have bought unseen was not at all what purchaser said it was. Just wanting to make sure I will be getting what I'm expecting
