Hello Everyone,
I am new to the AO forums so please allow me to introduce myself, My name is Nowell I'm for Saskatoon Saskatchewan, love to hunt migratory birds and Coyotes, It just never gets old watching them come in!
The coyotes here in Saskatchewan have been calling fairly well, these below 30 nights followed by some rather warm days have definatley contributed to the numbers.
The season started rather slow, it just seemed like the coyotes didn't want to move in the warmer November/ December weather we've experienced this winter. Right after we had a few extremely cold -40 nights I began calling with much better success... seems like now the dogs are responding to distress calls as well as territorial calls... the female invitation seems to be bringing them in as well.
So far we've got 32 this season. Our best day we shot 5 dogs.. Although we have had decent success bringing them in I still tend to miss my fair share of yotes!
Fortunately we have only had 4 dogs with shoulder mites... unlike some of the other hunters and fur trappers in the area, who haven't been as fortunate throwing away close to 50% of there dogs...
But thats enough about my success, lets hear it from the other dog hunters out there! Who's out calling and what success have you had this season? How is the Fur?
Cheers,
Straight Rippin
