Default Down to the wire...

took a WT doe a week and a half ago, but still hoping to put a bit more meat in the freezer. Will be leaving the poor dog at home this weekend, to try and get a mountain muley. Who else still needs some meat on the last weekend of the season?

You and I both, still looking to get my Muley in 406...fortunately I got 3 days off right before season end.

Got my whitetail tag filled, so at least I got some meat.

Best of luck

I was lucky/put in some work to drag my buck out of the Willmore in late September. But we're looking for more for the freezer so we're headed back in to the mountains for some fat does. It'll be cold and lots of work, but it beats sitting in a tree stand in -10 IMO. Plus the 14 hours of darkness in the tent will let me catch up on my reading.

Yep - I've not filled a tag yet this year. I'll be out Saturday and Sunday as necessary to rectify this.

True. But I'd have little sympathy for someone who might say "I need to fill my WT tag because all I've got so far this fall is a bull moose."

I'm out! Bagged my mule buck at 9:10 this morning. Has a really odd rack, short times, almost whitetail-like in form; and with a little bit of palmation on the right side. He's going to be at least 50% sausage, so I'm really happy with how the season ended (my first year taking 2 big game animals).

I'm hiding in my blind in 324 right now, hoping for a WT for some meat. I can't get Monday off so this is my last chance. Saw a little doe 10min before legal light at 30 yards. Left it alone of course, but I'd be lying if I tried to tell you I wasn't just a little tempted. Maybe this will make the hunting gods happy and they'll send a freezer full towards me today.

Shot my elk a while back and was concentrating getting my daughter a buck. We passed on lots of 125" and smaller Whitetails, she won't shoot a small one or a doe, before getting herself a mulie. We might pop out this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Im not really feeling it, even after seeing a 150" WT this morning on our place as weedy for hockey this morning...

I think we will start planning for next year! :-)

Good luck to the guys out today and tomorrow.

I don't need more meat. Two of my four freezers have bags of dog food on them to keep the lids down. However, I am trying to get my youngest son on a deer. Tomorrow after school is his last chance.
