Mid Season Sheep Hunting
Hi guys! New member here. Great forum!
Question for all you veteran Sheep hunters....is the good opportunities in mid Sept for Sheep hunting or is it almost a must to go first week of season or late Oct?
Appreciate any feedback! Thx guys!

Sheep hunting is a long learning curve with success coming usually somewhere between the 5th and 10th year of hunting them. So basically what I'm saying is for the first few years it doesn't matter when you go, just go when you can and start learning about rocky mountain bighorns.😎

Absolutely, and perhaps even a better time to go, as the rams are less pressured and usually back to normal feeding patterns, following the opening week gong show. The two rams in my avatar were taken on Sept 19, and we found a second band of rams in reserve if our first plan didn't work out (it did). Good luck

Unless you're lucky and in an out of the way place, the opening week gong show doesn't go away anymore.  Lousy weather the last week is what I like.

For a new sheep hunter I would recommend not hunting opening week. You will avoid a lot of the crowed and get to enjoy the hunt. I also think mid season is the best time to hunt sheep. If you want look at the harvest records. There are many sheep taken mid sept to mid October. Shot mine sept 19 last year.

Knew a guy, riding on the Headwaters trail, north of Indianhead, last week of the season, in a snow storm. B&C ram walked across the trail in front of him. Can't get much easier.

As far as the OP, they can be killed on every day day the season, any day your out could be your day.
