Pronghorn Euro Mount questions

So I am in the middle of doing my first euro mount and I had to complicate it by doing it to pronghorn scull.

During the second boil, the horns popped off which freaked me out until I looked up that with horned animals you are supposed to take the horn off. I pulled out the membrane in the horns but how much more is in there to clean up it was all still soft and I did not want to randomly dig around and ruin something.

Also is a pressure washer the only real way to get the brain cavity clean scooping is annoying and I don't really trust that the cavity is clean with scooping
