Default Fall Walleye Action in the Lakeland

The Lakeland region of Alberta is not just about its beautiful lakes, the mighty North Saskatchewan river runs through the southern Lakeland region offering excellent fall walleye action. The stretch of river between the towns of Elk point and Heinsberg offer a chance at the walleye of a lifetime. Many fish over 10lbs are caught each fall. The walleye migrate down stream towards the Saskatchewan border in large numbers at this time of year and, with the low water levels in the fall, it is a perfect time for anglers to target these fish. Look for deep inside corners after riffle areas and set up with basic pickerel rigs and minnows along with lindy rigs and dew worms to target these huge fish. Access at the bridges in the region offers anglers miles of shoreline to explore in search of the big ones. So get out the hiking boots and start exploring or launch a jet boat by Elk Point to find that honey hole. Always consult the Alberta fishing regulations and please respect any private land. If you listen closely you may even hear the songs of the voyageurs that traveled this water way 300 years ago. Get out and enjoy the Lakeland region this fall.
