Default Fishing Edmonton & Area 2015

Been fishing for my entire life around the Edmonton area but just finally got onto these forums to share some spots and get some hints and tips. As a rule we typically fish within city limits, pulling out all kinds of Pike, Walleye, Goldeye and suckers, but our focus has shifted to the elusive Sturgeon as of late. I've heard of a guy who has pulled 37 out of the river this year, so they're out there. I know nobody is going to give up their holes for these giants but any tips or suggestions would be great. I've heard worms are the best bet to land one on a typical Sturgeon rig, but I'd like more opinions on the matter. Any info would be appreciated.

Try locating deeper stretches of the river and slower water. I use a med-heavy rod with 50lb power pro and a sturgeon rig with a single worm or minnow as bait. Dont be afraid to cast close to shore i get alot of mine within 20 feet of the shoreline.
