Just found out I had my big metal fire pit grate stolen from my Trappers cabin. Half my wood that was cut and split and The previous trapper got his big Cat bulldozer stolen before he had a chance to take it out.. Got to love vandals!!! Guess it could be worse

That sucks, can you drive right up with a vehicle or was it someone on a atv? Need a couple tree cams in bird houses.

I got a system that I need to put up that will email me pics when taken. At least it will give a guy some pics to find the guy. My trail going to the cabin from the road is about 200 yards but it is super wet all the time and hard to not get stuck so it keeps most people from driving in and snooping. The problem is that it is on the shore of a lake that has fish so you get a few people coming in to fish. I put a steel door up last week as well.
I plan on building a new cabin on the northern part of my line and I am thinking of a 16' by 24' cabin with no windows and rebar all through the walls and door. That way they can't chainsaw the way in. Got to figure out a way to secure the door real good but maybe a metal door with a lockbox over a big padlock. The only way in would be an oxy acetylene tank and cut it off lol

crappy deal, forsure. sad times.

probably not a lock big enough. that would keep people out of a cabin. if they wanted in.

might be better just to leave it bear proofed but unlocked. and take a "go bag/tote" with the basics, every time you go. leaving nothing of value.

i would suspect, that in that area. it's going to be an ongoing issue.

It sounds like someone camping out that way decided that they needed a grate and some wood for their fire. The Cat, well, I guess that there had to be some planning behind that one. I don't suppose that a gate would make much of a difference, would it?

Big metal grate is an understatement . It was a 600lb crusher cone

My buddy spent $2000 on a fabricated steel door and frame and 2 steel frame screened windows in his licenced lawful trapper cabin,,,

2 weeks later he found they had chainsawed a NEW door in the opposite wall and stolen all items of any value !
